Keep Your Practice On Beat This Heart Month

February is American Heart Month—an important time to focus on heart health and how to prevent heart disease. That’s why BodySite, along with the rest of the nation, is spotlighting heart disease, the No. 1 killer of Americans.
Hypertension is a leading risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Whether you’re a doctor, nurse or health coach, it’s important to take the time to learn more about the risk factors for heart disease, how to help your patients reduce risk and better teach patients how to live a heart-healthy lifestyle. BodySite is proud to offer tools to healthcare providers across the country that help to monitor and care for patients who suffer with heart conditions or who may be at risk.
This month, BodySite is highlighting events, education and the tools available to help your patients stay heart-healthy:
Wear Red Day
BodySite participated in National Wear Red Day® on Friday, February 3rd to raise awareness for heart disease and stroke. This year, the theme was Wear Red for Women.

Heart Health Webinar with Dr. Harvey White, MD, FACC
Yesterday, February 15th, BodySite and A4M welcomed Dr. Harvey White, MD, FACC for his webinar Habits Drive Health.
Curiously, disease is not some random occurrence that confronts humanity. In fact, disease is highly conditioned by such factors as our genetics, life experiences, attitudes and not surprisingly, our habits. In fact, our habits, those day in and day out events which structure our lives, may be among the most important determinants of our Health.
Based on his 40 years in the field of Cardiology and amplified by his most recent experiences in preventive cardiovascular medicine, Dr. White shared some of his simple and yet profound observations about the importance of habits as a determinant of health.
If you missed the webinar, you can watch the replay below:
Connected Heart Health Devices
To help with monitoring patients blood pressure readings virtually in between visits, BodySite is seamlessly integrated with the Withings Blood Pressure cuff for remote monitoring of blood pressure and resting heart rate. Patients can sync their blood pressure cuff to the BodySite platform so that you can see their data all day long and get notified when measurements are out of their predetermined healthy range.
Additionally, track patient weight and other through a variety of connected health devices, listed here.
Heart Health Lifestyle Programs
Heart disease is largely preventable, and lifestyle changes such as healthy eating, physical activity, and quitting smoking can reduce the risk of developing heart disease.
Early detection and treatment of heart disease can help reduce the risk of complications and death, and improve quality of life.
In its library of over 80 care plans, BodySite has 2 main heart-health plans: the DashDietRx and the ModernDASH Diet. The DASH eating plan focuses on eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, nuts and seeds and low fat dairy while limiting red meat and sugar-sweetened foods and drinks. The ModernDASH is a modern-twist on the conventional DASH diet, encouraging nondairy alternatives instead of low-fat dairy.
Healthcare providers have a unique opportunity to help educate their patients about the risk factors for heart disease and provide them with the tools they need to make healthy lifestyle changes.
All tiers of the BodySite platform have access to this exciting heart health program!
