The food tracking journal your EMR is missing (and patients want)

The food tracking journal your EMR is missing

Introducing BodySite’s All-New Food Tracking Experience (iOS)

A faster, cleaner way to log food & water—with smarter macro goals, progress and quicker multi-item entry.

Let’s face it.  EMR’s don’t generally give patients any real food journal options. BodySite does.  We’re excited to announce a big upgrade to BodySite’s iOS food tracking experience. This release focuses on making daily logging faster, more intuitive, and more motivating—without adding friction.

And you won’t find a more robust way for your patients to track food that you view in real time as their practitioner, in any EMR or practice management software.

What’s new 🚀

  • Completely redesigned food tracking layout & designs for a cleaner, more modern logging flow.  Scroll for images.👇🏼
  • New water tracker with a simple water glass icon (quick and easy).
  • Water tracking moved under Food (instead of Activity) to keep all nutrition logging in one place.
  • Option to omit calories burned from the “calories remaining” calculation each day.
  • Visual progress toward macro goals (by grams or by percentage) to make your day easier to read at a glance.
  • Track multiple items faster from your Recents, Favorites, Meals, or Custom Foods:
add several items in a row using the + button instead of logging one item and bouncing back to the daily summary every time.
  • Favorites now listed alphabetically so it’s easier to find what you want.
  • Favorite multiple serving sizes of the same food item (no more re-searching or re-typing).
  • Meal photos and notes now display right on the tracking summary page.
  • Search within Favorites, Custom Foods, and Saved Meals to find items faster.

Why we invested in this 💡

Consistency for your patients is the winning edge—but only when tracking is easy. These improvements are designed to reduce taps, keep food + water in a single flow, and make macro progress clearer and more encouraging throughout the day.

Multi-Add Functionality

Your patients may have used food tracking apps like MyFitnessPal or LoseIt.  So they want to be able to quickly add all of the foods for this meal (breakfast, etc.) in a few taps without multiple page reloads.  We heard you.  Just pull up your recent foods or favorites.  Tap tap tap and your meal is tracked.

New crisp, clean design and consolidated view.

The new design combines our classic “macro wheel” graph with bar charts to show more detail than ever in case you (or the patient) want to set goals for not only macro percentages but also macro gram goals.  Set either or both and get a full view of the macros consumed versus goals, all calculated automatically.  And as the patient tracks, it’s all visible to you and your team in real time.

In the same view, keep an eye on water logging against a goal and any calories burned from exercise.

A picture says 1000 words

Not all practitioners want their patients to track calories and macros and frankly, not all patients enjoy it.  But sometimes it helps to just see a picture of the plate.  We’ve upgraded the “take a picture of what you ate” function to show the photo right on the face of the food tracking summary.

Set up goals your way

Easily get as granular as you like with settings for water goals, calorie goals, macro goals by % or grams, whether to include calories burned in the remaining calorie count and more, all on one easy settings page.

Get the facts in one nutrition facts label for the whole day

Click nutrition facts to see the whole day as a nutrition label.

Get the details on each separate food you’re tracking and set multiple serving sizes as favorites

Sometimes you eat a whole mango, sometimes you don’t.  No worries.  Save them both as favorites. 1 scoop of protein today but two tomorrow. Save them both as favorites so they’re still one click, regardless of your appetite.  Just click through to the food details to see all of the granular info and save as many servings or serving sizes as favorites as you like.

Scan a barcode for 1 million foods in a newer interface

The barcode scan and “just add calories” functions are now more accessible than ever.  Big obvious buttons prompt the user to think bar code first when tracking any product with a bar code, for even faster tracking.

So much more.  Get the update ✅

If you have automatic app updates enabled, you may already have it.
Otherwise, update BodySite from the App Store.

Tip: After updating, open Food tracking and try logging from Favorites or Recents—then use the + button to add multiple items quickly.
