What is DASH?

DASH diet stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. And it’s been voted the #1 Best Heart Healthy Diet by U.S. News & World Reports among 39 diets in 2021.

The DASH diet was originally introduced by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and is now a widely accepted, clinically tested and approved protocol. Additionally, the ModernDASH has taken out processed foods such as canned fruits, pre-packaged snacks as well as sugars even in small quantities, and is instead comprised of more whole foods like whole grains, berries, green apples, nondairy yogurts, and leafy greens.

In short, the ModernDASH diet promotes healthy eating through incorporating whole grains, vegetables, fruits, whole foods, healthy and lean protein and nondairy substitutes (or whole fat dairy when approved by a provider), along with exercise and mindfulness techniques for a protocol that emphasizes overall wellness.
