Exercise Programs for Patients
As a healthcare professional, we know you’re always looking for ways to help patients achieve better health outcomes, and a large part of this is implementing healthy lifestyle programs.
Thankfully, BodySite has a variety of exercise programs designed to help patients in 2023. Today we’re discussing the benefits of these programs, the automated patient education technology that makes them possible, and how they can be tailored to meet the needs of different patients.
Here are a few potential programs you can offer to help your patients reach their goals, using the BodySite platform.
HIIT Program For Patients
Coming In February BodySite is launching a HIIT Program for patients! This program will feature…
- Education on HIIT/Best Practices
- Interactive Tasks
- Daily Exercises/Rest Periods
- & more
What is HIIT?
HIIT: High Intensity Interval Training is great for patients looking for an effective way to lose weight, and save time.
HIIT alternates short bursts of intense, anaerobic exercise with periods of rest or low-intensity activity. This type of exercise has been proven to be effective for weight loss and can be tailored to fit any person’s individual needs.
How Can HIIT Benefit Patients?
Patients can get an effective workout in as little as 20 minutes, making it ideal for busy individuals who don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to exercise. HIIT also has been shown to boost metabolism, which can help patients burn more calories even after the workout is complete. In addition, HIIT is an effective way to build muscle.
This type of training helps to create lean muscle, which can help patients burn even more calories. HIIT also helps to improve cardiovascular fitness and aerobic capacity, which can help patients reach their weight loss goals faster. For those just starting out, the key to success with HIIT is to start at a pace that is comfortable.
Patients should avoid pushing themselves too hard which could increase their risk of injury. That is why the BodySite HIIT program offers rest days and slowly increases the difficulty over time, making it a program accessible to patients of almost all fitness levels.
12 Days of Stretching Plan
This plan is a 12-day program for beginners who want to safely, correctly, and effectively stretch. The goal is to introduce your patients to a daily lifestyle of stretching that will help their muscles build, increase flexibility and improve strength. By the end of the plan, patients will have learned stretches that target different areas that can be performed daily, even after the plan ends.
Each day your patients can choose individual stretches from the suggested list for the day or from the Resource Tab content. Each individual stretch video is about 30 seconds long. After they do their chosen individual stretches, they have a 10-minute stretching video that mixes multiple stretches together through a stretching routine.
The 12 Days of Stretching Plan is great for patients looking to increase flexibility and overall mobility while still burning calories in the process.
At Home Fitness Plan
Using the At Home Fitness Plan (one of BodySite’s best care plans of 2022), your patients receive the guidance of a personal trainer or fancy fitness instructor, without the added expense and hassle of having to leave their home. In fact, their guidance is even better because it’s implemented by their healthcare provider. For patients looking to stay healthy, get in shape, and track their progress with their physician, the at home fitness plan is a great place to start.
This program offers exercises for beginner to intermediate fitness levels and emphasizes use of common fitness equipment without need for the complex machines at many gyms. Perfectly paired with BodySite’s patient activity tracking functionality, patients can feel empowered as they track their progress.
The Basic Walking Plan
The Basic Walking Plan is a 6-week program for beginner walkers who want to improve their overall health and increase their energy. The goal is to introduce your patients to a daily lifestyle of fitness and health that will help them get stronger and healthier in just 6 weeks. By the end of the plan, they’ll be walking more than 30 minutes a day.
The plan starts with 10 minute walks and gradually works up to 30-plus minutes. Health experts have found that about 30 minutes a day of regular moderate exercise is effective for improving health and reducing the risk of many diseases.
Walking is a great and simple way to get in aerobic activity, increase endurance, and improve heart health all while burning calories. Exercise doesn’t always need to be complicated or vigorous; regularly taking walks can do the trick.
Regularly walking can also help your patients to maintain a healthy weight and lose body fat, prevent or manage various conditions including heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer, and type 2 diabetes, improve cardiovascular fitness, strengthen bones and muscles, improve muscle endurance, increase energy levels, along with many other noticeable benefits. The benefits are even greater once your patients start to walk faster, farther, and more frequently.
The Basic Walking Plan will start with an information day that will educate your patients a little more in-depth on these benefits of walking and how to keep safety in mind throughout the six weeks.
Guiding your patients through an active new lifestyle can be difficult, and it can definitely be a chore to collect all of the needed information.
Fortunately, their program will provide them with their daily walk, tips, guidance, and tasks in order to help them transition to their Basic Walking Plan made specially for them. This way, they can maintain their walking schedule and healthy habits even after the six weeks are up.
