What is the 12 Days of Stretching Plan?

The 12 Days of Stretching Plan is a twelve-day program for beginners who want to safely, correctly, and effectively stretch. The goal is to introduce your patients to a daily lifestyle of stretching that will help their muscles to build and maintain flexibility, strength, and health. By the end of the plan, they’ll have learned many stretches that target different areas and can be performed daily.

Each day your patients can choose individual stretches from the suggested list for the day or from the Resource Tab Content. Each individual stretch video is about 30 seconds long. After they do their chosen individual stretches, they will have a 10 minute stretching video that mixes multiple stretches together through a stretching routine.

What Are the Benefits of Stretching?

Regularly stretching can help you to improve your range of motion and lessen your risk of injury along with many other benefits due to increased flexibility. Some of these other benefits include improving performance in physical activities, helping joints move through their full range of motion, increasing muscle blood flow, enabling muscles to work most effectively, and improving the ability to do daily activities.

Regularly stretching also allows the muscles to build and maintain flexibility, strength, and health. Proper flexibility is needed to accomplish full range of motion in the joints. Without stretching, the muscles may shorten and tighten, which causes the muscles to weaken and not able to extend all the way. This increases the risk of strains, muscle damage, and joint pain when the muscles are called upon for activity.
